Abaddon and Apollyon

 Abaddon and Apollyon: Antichrists who rise against the church in judgment?


Re 9:11 And they (locuts) had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, (DESTRUCTION) but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon (DESTROYER).

Jer 4:7 The LION is come up from his thicket, and the DESTROYER of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

1Pe 5:8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Jer 2:30  In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your OWN SWORD hath devoured your prophets, like a DESTROYING LION.

Isa 65:25  The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the LION shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

Ex 12:23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the DESTROYER to come in unto your houses to SMITE you.

Jer 22:7 And I will prepare DESTROYERS against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

Jer 51:25 Behold, I am against thee, O DESTROYING mountain, saith the LORD, which DESTROYEST all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.

Lu 21:6  As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be THROWN DOWN.

Eze 5:16 When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their DESTRUCTION, and which I will send to DESTROY: and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread:

Eze 21:31  And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish <01197> men <0582>, and skilful to DESTROY.

De 21:21  And all the men <0582> of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put <01197> EVIL away <01197> from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

2Sa 4:11  How much more, when WICKED MEN <0582> have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away <01197> from the earth?

Jer 25:9 Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly DESTROY them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.

1Co 10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were DESTROYED of the DESTROYER.

Jud 16:24  And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our ENEMY, and the DESTROYER of our country, which slew many of us.

Ps 9:6  O thou ENEMY, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast DESTROYED cities; their memorial is perished with them.

Ho 4:6 My people are DESTROYED for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Joe 2:3 A fire devoureth before THEM; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall ESCAPE THEM.

Jer 51:8 BABYLON is suddenly fallen and DESTROYED: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

Isa 14:4  That thou shalt take up this proverb against the KING OF BABYLON, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!

Isa 14:6  He who SMOTE the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.

Isa 14:9  Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the Isa 14:nations.

Isa 14:10  All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?

Isa 14:12  How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Re 14:8  And there followed another angel, saying, BABYLON is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Isa 14:13  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

Isa 14:14  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Isa 14:15  Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Isa 14:16  They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, IS THIS THE MAN that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

Isa 14:17  That made the world as a wilderness, and DESTROYED the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?



Abaddon (destruction) and Apollyon (destroyer) appear to be  referring to antichrists who rise in tribulation and judgment to destroy the church. In essence, it is God allowing the enemy (church) to destroy itself with lies that cannot save: False prophets providing a false assurance of salvation to themselves.
